Abstract This work presents an experimental validation of MD unit coupled with a sweeping gas membrane (SGMD) using solar energy distillation energy. station is installed at the University Kairouan in Tunisia. SGMD least used (MD) configuration, and it very expensive to build. completely remove solutions containing non-volatile compounds such as salts recover only high-purity water. A theoretical study was carried out parameters that intervene system. The theory system described by mathematical model based on heat mass transfer unit. Experimental studies were for two types processes: preheating without charge (brine). With low flow, evaporation capacity varies between 0.15 0.25 l/m2 h. operating parameter (liquid velocity) affected layer both sides membrane.
